The Algar do Carvão, Gruta do Natal and Volcano speleological Museum management is the sole responsability of the Associação Os Montanheiros.  The visitation regulations are implemented only by Associação Os Montanheiros.

Visits to the Volcanospeleological Museum

 

Where is it located?

The Volcanopeleological Museum is located on the ground floor of the  Montanheiros Association headquarters, at Rocha Street No. 8, in the historic center of Angra do Heroísmo.

It is the most prominent building on  Rocha Street, facing the Bay of Angra, due to its distinctive architecture and the bat featured on its façade, which is part of the Montanheiros Association logo

 

2. How much is the ticket?

Visits to the museum are free; however, donations are welcome and greatly appreciated.

 

3. Are there guided visits to the museum?

Before starting the visit, visitors receive a brief orientation and introductory information, after which they can explore the museum independently and at their own pace. Guided tours are available by prior appointment, especially for study visits.

 

4. Is the museum accessible to everybody?

The Museum is located on the ground floor. There is a small step at the entrance of the Montanheiros Association headquarters. Access to the Museum is possible via a ramp or two steps.

The newest area of the Museum currently has two steps, with a ramp planned for future installation.

 

5. Are photographs and videos permitted?

Photography and video recording of the exhibition are allowed. However, capturing images of staff members or other visitors is not permitted.
